A dog named Saxon is available for adoption in Florida after being rescued from euthanasia. According to Lil Rascals Dog Rescue, Saxon was found abandoned in a field with a rope tied around his neck and faced being put down at a shelter. The rescue organization shared on Facebook, “Saxon’s journey hasn’t been easy — he was found abandoned in a field with a rope tied around his neck and faced euthanasia at a shelter. Thankfully, he was given a second chance, and today he’s thriving in foster care while waiting for the forever home he deserves.”

Saxon is currently in foster care near Orlando. The rescue described him as having “a big heart and an even bigger smile.” He enjoys playing with toys but is still learning how to play fetch. His online adoption profile notes that Saxon is affectionate, loves snuggles, giving kisses, and follows people around. “Saxon is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves snuggles, giving kisses, and following his people around,” rescuers wrote. “He even does his signature ‘helicopter tail wag’ when he’s extra excited.”

At 8 years old, Saxon is considered calm and motivated by treats. The rescue says he would do best with an owner who can continue his current training routine. He may be able to live with another relaxed dog or as the only pet.

“This boy has been through so much, yet his spirit shines with love,” the rescue wrote. “With patience and care, Saxon will reward his forever family with loyalty, gentleness, and a heart full of devotion.”

As of September 17, Saxon remains listed on the Lil Rascals Dog Rescue website as available for adoption. No further information about him was provided by the organization to McClatchy News on September 16 or 17.
