A property owner in Arizona discovered the body of a woman inside a cardboard box on his land, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office reported that the discovery was made on September 5 after the property owner called police upon finding the box.

According to information released by the sheriff’s office on October 3 via Facebook, a witness near the scene stated that he had seen a vehicle with its trunk open close to the property the previous night. Due to darkness, he could not identify either the vehicle or its occupants.

The deceased was identified as Carolyn Ann Bosher, age 57, from Nevada. Authorities determined her identity using fingerprints. Bosher had been arrested for indecent exposure six days before her body was found.

Anita Mortensen, public information specialist with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, told AZ Family: “There’s nothing that indicates she was killed on scene. The manner in which she was located indicates that it was very brutal.”

Although Bosher’s death occurred in early September, law enforcement only recently shared details with the public. Her sister, Suzanne Staton, learned of her death through media coverage and expressed shock over what happened. “I’m in disbelief. I don’t want to believe that it’s her,” said Suzanne Staton. “I have so many questions, like how did she end up in Arizona?”

The case remains under investigation and officials urge anyone with relevant information to contact them at 928-753-0753.

Mohave County is located about 180 miles northwest of Phoenix.
