Body of missing woman found in south Macon, identified by sheriff’s office

A 23-year-old woman was found dead near the intersection of Rocky Creek Road and Robinhood Road in south Macon on Thursday, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. The discovery occurred while investigators were following up on a missing persons report.

Deputy Alexis Mitchell-White stated at the scene that “the circumstances of the death appeared to be a hit-and-run.” The body was located in an embankment in the 2200 block of Rocky Creek Road just before 11:30 a.m., and Deputy Coroner Luann Stone pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Ronni Nykole Abbott. Officials from the coroner’s office remained at the site around 12:35 p.m.

As of 2:30 p.m., authorities had not confirmed whether this is being investigated as a criminal case.
