Knox, an adult cat at the Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Humane Society in Lima, is looking for a new home. The shelter described Knox as having a unique personality compared to more active cats.
He arrived at the shelter in 2021 through a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. According to the shelter, “For those unfamiliar, TNR is a humane program where community cats are trapped, spayed/neutered, and then returned to their outdoor home to prevent overpopulation,” adding that because there was space available at the time, “we decided Knox deserved more than life on the streets — so he was welcomed into our socialization program.”
The shelter noted that Knox may not be as outgoing as other cats due to his background. “Cats like Knox often grow up with little to no human contact, so our program gives them the chance to slowly adjust to indoor life, human voices, and gentle care. Knox has come such a long way since his early days of hiding and uncertainty,” they said.
While he is not described as playful or seeking constant attention, staff highlighted his calm demeanor. “Knox is still very much his own guy — he’s not a playful ‘toy-chasing’ cat or one that craves constant pets,” according to the shelter.
Knox also has a bit of extra weight. The shelter remarked, “And let’s be honest… Knox is rocking the ‘dad bod’ of the cat world — a little extra fluff just means more love to go around!”
More information about Knox and other adoptable animals can be found on the Ohio SPCA and Humane Society website. Lima is located approximately 90 miles northwest of Columbus.
