The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data tables from the Annual Survey of State Government Finances, offering a comprehensive look at state government finances for fiscal year 2024. The data covers each state and includes detailed information on revenue sources, expenditures, and debt.

According to the Census Bureau, “These statistics provide a summary of the finances of state governments for fiscal year 2024. Tables include data for each state, along with detailed information on revenue sources, spending and debt.”

The survey results are used by federal, state, and local governments as well as educational and research organizations. The information assists in comparative studies and supports activities such as developing the government component of gross domestic product.

This annual survey is conducted as a supplement to the broader Annual Survey of State and Local Government Finances.
