The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will hold a prerelease webinar on September 4, 2025, to discuss the upcoming release of the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The public release of these statistics is scheduled for September 11, 2025.

The webinar aims to guide users on how to access ACS data and resources, and will provide tips for comparing different geographic areas and tracking changes in statistics over time. Caleb Hopler, supervisory survey statistician from the American Community Survey Office, and Jewel Jordan, public affairs specialist from the Public Information Office, are set to lead the session.

According to the Census Bureau, “The ACS provides a wide range of statistics about the nation’s people and housing, such as language spoken at home, education, commuting, employment, mortgage status and rent, income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. It is the only source of local estimates for most of the 40-plus topics it covers.”

One-year estimates from the ACS will be available under embargo starting September 9 at 10 a.m. ET for subscribers. These embargoed statistics cover all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other regions with populations of at least 65,000. The embargo period runs until September 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Distribution services are not permitted to share any news stories or data files before the official public release time.

All datasets will be accessible to the general public by September 11 at 10 a.m. ET via the Census Bureau’s website. Registration for embargo access can also be completed online.

The prerelease webinar will feature both an audio conference and an online presentation. Attendees do not need to dial in separately for audio; they can listen through their devices during the session. Media representatives and data users will have opportunities to ask questions using a Q&A feature during and after the presentation.

Further details about registering for this event are available at the Census Bureau’s webinar registration page.
