For Lateefah Conner, the launch of Pet Party Palace in downtown Macon marks the realization of a long-held ambition. The venue, which opened in May in a historic building on Third Street, offers a dedicated space for pet-focused events such as parties, photo shoots, and private playtimes.

Conner moved to Macon with her husband about a year ago. In December 2024, she used ChatGPT to explore business ideas and was encouraged to pursue her interest in creating a venue for pets. “It took me back to an idea I had several years ago which was to host birthday parties for pets,” Conner said. “Just getting some help from AI really, this really blossomed.”

Her affection for animals began during childhood when she would spend time near a creek collecting frogs and lizards. As an adult, she now has two bunnies, two frogs, and a turtle that frequently visit the venue. “Animals allow me to love them unconditionally,” Conner said. “I’ve always loved animals and they were my out.”

Pet Party Palace features amenities including an agility course, wash station, themed photo backdrops, a private party room, ball pit with slide, and custom-built items such as a swing made from part of an elevator shaft found during renovations. Furniture selections include ornate thrones for pet photos and a hot pink couch sourced from New York.

Since opening its doors, the venue has hosted various activities like birthday parties, craft nights, photo shoots, and play sessions for different types of animals. Private playtimes have been especially popular among clients who want their pets to enjoy exclusive access or socialize with others.

The business also organizes themed events tied to local happenings; when the movie “Superman” premiered in July, Conner dressed as Supergirl for photos with visiting pets. For Disney on Ice’s upcoming visit in October, Princess Tiana is scheduled to appear at the venue.

To support local causes and engage with the community further, Conner partnered with a baker for handmade treats at events and started collecting pet food donations benefiting Noah’s Ark and Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services department.

Reflecting on her work so far at Pet Party Palace Conner said: “I feel like I’m fulfilling my purpose. If I’m able to obtain that by helping other people have joy and fun … that makes me happy being able to share and spread that.”
