More than 324,000 Evenflo Resolve360 Slim car seats have been recalled after reports surfaced that children were able to remove foam from the headrest and put it in their mouths or noses. According to a safety recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “The headrest is accessible underneath the soft goods cover. The field experience demonstrates that the tape employed to protect against a child picking off pieces of foam does not extend sufficiently far to be fully effective.

“A child breaking off pieces of the phone headrest may ingest them, creating a choking hazard,” the notice stated.

Unlike many recalls for children’s clothing or toys involving small parts, this recall comes after repeated incidents. Evenflo has reported 11 cases where children placed parts of the foam headrest in their mouth or nose and another 12 reports where children accessed the foam but did not ingest it.

The recall applies to both Evenflo Resolve360 Slim and Evenflo Gold Resolve360 Slim models with several model numbers affected, including: 36812450AZ; 36812450POP; 36812501A; 36812470TGT; 36812470A; 36812469AZ; 36812468AZ; 36812467AZ; 36812451AZ; 36812449AZ; 36812504; 36812451; 36812450; 36812449; 36812501; 36812471; 36812470; 36812469; 36812468; and 36812467.

Evenflo is offering a remedy kit that includes an additional tape seal designed to fully cover the exposed foam area. Owners who have registered their car seat will automatically receive this kit, while others are encouraged to register through Evenflo’s website. For more information on this recall, customers can contact Evenflo by email at parentlink@evenflo.com or by calling either of its hotlines Monday through Friday during business hours.
