The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Florida State Council recently held a five-day legislative conference in Tallahassee. Union members and retirees attended the event to meet with state representatives and senators, focusing on labor rights, improved wages, and the protection of pensions and Social Security.
Leaders at the conference highlighted concerns about anti-union legislation. They stated that such measures could threaten collective bargaining power and the financial stability of working people. “Leaders and activists emphasize the importance of opposing anti-union legislation that threatens the collective bargaining power and financial stability of the working class.”
Participants engaged directly with lawmakers as part of their effort to represent machinists from across Florida, including regions such as the Kennedy Space Center, South Florida, and the Panhandle. The primary objective was to influence state policies for union workers’ benefit and prepare for upcoming political events in 2026.
The IAM’s involvement underscores its commitment to advocating for worker interests at both local and state levels.
