The Georgia Center of Innovation is supporting local businesses in developing sustainable water treatment solutions, with a focus on the oil and gas industry. Ecologix Environmental Systems, based in Alpharetta, is one such company that has benefited from the center’s guidance. The company manufactures and integrates wastewater treatment equipment for various sectors, including oil and gas, food production, manufacturing, and automotive industries.

According to the Georgia Center of Innovation, their team helps businesses find ways to treat waste products in a sustainable manner. “Continuing conversation with consultants at the Center of Innovation helped Ecologix find a new opportunity for leasing frac water treatment systems to oil companies, thanks to the Center’s unique understanding of the growing demand for treated water in the oil industry,” stated representatives from the center.

Ecologix now assembles its Integrated Treatment Systems for frac water on-site and can process up to 2,000 gallons per minute. The ongoing relationship between Ecologix and the center has allowed Ecologix to address challenges as it expands into new markets. Their work includes supplying wastewater treatment systems for Kia Motors’ paint line in West Point, Georgia and manufacturing technology to assist the Army Corps of Engineers with algae removal at Florida power plants.

“Helping businesses with efficient, sustainable waste stream management is just one facet of the Center of Innovation. The Center is one of the state’s most unique economic development programs, and a value-added benefit that helps businesses connect to resources, collaborate in research, and grow in the marketplace,” said officials from the center.
