Two Georgia Powerball players each won $150,000 in the latest drawing, according to the Georgia Lottery. Their tickets matched four winning numbers, the Powerball, and included the Power Play multiplier in the Saturday, August 30 drawing. In addition to these wins, five other Georgia players secured prizes of $50,000 each.
Elsewhere across the country, tickets sold in Colorado, Indiana, and New Hampshire matched five numbers plus the Power Play multiplier but missed the Powerball number. Each of those tickets earned $2 million prizes. Players in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania matched five numbers without the Powerball to win $1 million each. In California—where prize amounts can differ depending on ticket sales and winners—four players received $1.1 million each.
The national Powerball site reported that 115 players nationwide matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000. An additional 27 players added the Power Play multiplier for winnings of $150,000.
The winning numbers for this drawing were 3, 18, 22, 27 and 33 with a Powerball of 17. The Power Play multiplier was three times.
There was no winner for the jackpot prize this round. The top prize now increases to an estimated $1.1 billion with a cash value of about $498.4 million for the next drawing scheduled Monday, September 1.
More than 4.7 million other tickets won smaller prizes ranging from $4 up to $150,000 in this draw.
According to lottery officials, “To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.”
The odds of winning the jackpot are one in over 292 million.
Tickets remain available on draw days; however sales deadlines and ticket prices vary by state regulations.
