A 24-year-old hiker was seriously injured after falling 150 feet on the Pali Notches Trail in Oahu, Hawaii, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, when the rope the man was using snapped during his ascent.

The Honolulu Fire Department told HawaiiNewsNow that rescue crews arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after the fall and began their approach on foot. A helicopter later reached the hiker’s location at approximately 5:10 p.m.

KITV reported that a firefighter descended from the helicopter to provide first aid to the man, who had suffered multiple critical injuries. Rescuers then airlifted him out of the area and transferred him to EMS personnel. He was taken to a hospital and remained in critical condition as of the latest reports.

Pali Notches Trail is located less than ten miles northeast of downtown Honolulu. According to AllTrails, it is considered a short but challenging hike with steep elevation gains and sections better suited for experienced hikers and climbers. The trail offers views of Oahu’s windward side and the Ko’olau mountain range.
