The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Retirees & Membership Services Department held a week-long training session at the William Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Maryland. The class aimed to support members in establishing retiree clubs within their districts and local chapters. This initiative is intended to increase activism among retirees, provide additional resources, and encourage mentorship between retired members and younger union members.

The department has encouraged those interested in starting an IAM retiree club to visit its membership services page for more information at https://www.goiam.org/departments/general-secretary-treasurer/membership-services/.

Retiree clubs are seen as a way to maintain engagement among former workers while strengthening the union’s presence through ongoing involvement and guidance for new generations.
