The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is urging the U.S. Senate to pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act, a bill designed to restore collective bargaining rights for federal employees. The union’s call follows President Donald Trump’s executive order on March 27, which ended collective bargaining for federal unions.

IAM International President Brian Bryant has addressed members of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in letters, advocating for support of H.R. 2550, known as the Protect America’s Workforce Act. The legislation was introduced in the House by Representatives Jared Golden (D-ME) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), and has garnered bipartisan backing.

“IAM Union strongly supports the Protect America’s Workforce Act for restoring collective bargaining rights to the nation’s federal workforce,” said IAM leadership.

The union emphasized that federal workers are essential public servants who deserve workplace protections through collective bargaining. According to IAM, these rights contribute to better service for the public.

IAM represents thousands of federal employees nationwide, including those affiliated with the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM), which counts about 110,000 members across the United States.
