A 17-year-old was critically injured in a shooting at a BP gas station on Shurling Drive in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred Friday and prompted investigators to release a photo of a person of interest, who later voluntarily came forward and spoke with authorities.
After interviewing the individual and reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station, investigators determined that the teenager who was shot had initiated the confrontation. According to the sheriff’s office, “The primary aggressor brandished a firearm in an attempt to rob the person of interest of a firearm in his possession. During the primary aggressor’s attempt to disarm the person of interest by force, the person of interest legally defended himself against the imminent threat imposed against him.”
No charges have been filed against the shooter at this time. The sheriff’s office stated that their investigation is ongoing.
