Tanya and Niki Pattharakositkul are set to open Khao Thai Isan, a new Thai tapas restaurant, at The Mitchell in Downtown Atlanta’s Centennial Yards development. The sisters, who grew up in Thailand, are known for their work with other Atlanta-area Thai restaurants including 26 Thai, Pink Lotus, Blackjack Bar Tapas, and the upcoming Terminal 26 at Ponce City Market.
Khao Thai Isan will focus on small plates inspired by the street food of Thailand’s Isan region. The menu will feature shareable dishes with bold flavors and modern presentation. Drinks will include Thai-inspired cocktails and beer towers.
“In Thailand, when people meet each other, rather than saying ‘hi’ or ‘how are you,’ they say ‘Gin Khao Mai,’ meaning ‘have you eaten yet?’” said Niki Pattharakositkul, Founder of Khao Thai Isan. “We wanted to bring that same sense of welcoming and community to anyone who dines at Khao Thai Isan. The restaurant is our way of saying ‘hello’ to Downtown Atlanta, as this will be our first venture in the area.”
The restaurant will occupy nearly 5,000 square feet on the ground floor of The Mitchell, a 19-story apartment building with 304 residences and 16,000 square feet of retail space. There will be a large outdoor patio designed to reflect the energy of Isan’s street food culture. Both the interior design and logo take inspiration from the kratip—a traditional sticky rice container from the region.
Khao Thai Isan is scheduled to open before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Its location is near Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena and within walking distance to Centennial Yards’ Entertainment District. The district has attracted major tenants such as Live Nation and Cosm and aims to become a leading destination for live entertainment and dining in the Southeast.
Centennial Yards Company was created by CIM Group as owner and master developer for this $5 billion mixed-use project.
