Krispy Kreme will bring back its chocolate original glazed doughnuts for a limited time, starting Thursday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 14. The return coincides with International Chocolate Day, which is observed annually on Sept. 13.

The Charlotte-based chain said the special doughnut will be available at participating locations nationwide while supplies last. The chocolate original glazed doughnut is an original glazed pastry fully coated in chocolate and was most recently offered July 6-7 for World Chocolate Day.

Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer for Krispy Kreme, stated, “This year, there’s no passing a second chance to bring back our beloved Chocolate Original Glazed doughnuts. This weekend, chocolate rules, no exceptions!”

Krispy Kreme clarified that the returning item is different from its regular chocolate iced doughnut, which features only a chocolate icing topping and is available throughout the year.

For this promotion, customers can receive half off a dozen chocolate original glazed doughnuts when they purchase any other dozen at regular price. As of Wednesday, Sept. 10, a dozen original glazed doughnuts cost $14.99 at the South End location in Charlotte.

More information about store locations can be found on Krispy Kreme’s website.
