The Lights Fest will take place at Lanier Islands Resort near Atlanta on October 25, offering participants the opportunity to release lanterns made of biodegradable materials such as rice paper, string, and bamboo. The event is organized by Viive Events and will be hosted at PineIsle at Lanier Islands. It begins at 4 p.m. and features live music, food, dancing, and a lantern release over Lake Lanier.

The festival is part of a series of similar events held across the country from Savannah to Southern California. According to resort officials, attendees use the lantern release for various personal reasons including honoring loved ones or expressing hopes.

Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort, stated: “The Lights Fest is just the beginning. Our team creates dozens of events each year, and we’re committed to growing our calendar with more national and regional festivals. Our goal is that, virtually 365 days out of the year, there’s never a dull moment at our resort.”

A portion of proceeds from The Lights Fest will go to Georgia Mountain Food Bank in support of local community needs. Bowling added: “We would be nowhere without the love and support of the community that surrounds our resort. It’s our job to wrap our arms around those in the community who could use our help.”

Lanier Islands offers a package deal that includes accommodations at Legacy Lodge along with tickets and a lantern for the event. Information about booking this package or purchasing individual tickets can be found on www.lanierislands.com or through the official event website: thelightsfest.com.
