A man from Tukwila, Washington, has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree attempted sexual abuse involving a woman with developmental disabilities in Oregon. The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing of Darryl Anthony Pearson, 36, following an incident that took place in September 2024.
According to prosecutors, the 37-year-old victim, who has autism and fetal alcohol syndrome, was shopping at an Oregon City shopping center on September 16 when Pearson approached her. Officials said he offered her $100 for sex, which she refused.
Prosecutors stated that Pearson then offered the woman a ride home. Instead of taking her home as promised, he drove her to a church parking lot in Gladstone where he sexually assaulted her.
The district attorney’s office reported that after the alleged assault was reported to police, the woman was taken to a hospital for examination and provided a DNA sample. This sample was entered into the Oregon State Police DNA database and matched Pearson’s profile.
When questioned by authorities about his whereabouts on the day of the incident, Pearson denied being in Oregon City. However, records show that on that same day he appeared in Clackamas County Circuit Court for another case. He pleaded guilty at that time to second-degree theft and criminal mischief and received 18 months probation.
Prosecutors also noted that Pearson has prior convictions in Washington for burglary, robbery, and child assault.
Oregon City is located approximately ten miles south of Portland.
