The Mercer Bears will begin their football season at home on Saturday, August 30, facing the Presbyterian College Blue Hose at Five Star Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
Mercer enters its first home game still seeking a win after its previous matchup against U.C. Davis was declared “no contest” due to severe weather in Montgomery, Alabama. As a result, all statistics from that game have been voided. Last season, Mercer achieved notable success by winning the Southern Conference championship and advancing to the quarterfinals of the Football Championship Series.
Game day activities for fans will take place on Black Field starting at 11 a.m., with the Fall Line beer garden opening at noon and offering beverages such as Ol’ Toby Easy Ale, which features a new can design this year. Dr Pepper Fansville will also open at noon and include inflatables for children. The Ford Football Concert Series begins at 2 p.m., featuring performances by Cody Lohden and headliner Ole 60. Gates to Five Star Stadium open at 5 p.m.
This week’s event highlights community involvement by celebrating area teachers. Tickets start at $4.78, referencing the Middle Georgia area code, and complimentary tickets are available for educators who complete an online form. The first 100 teachers through the gates will receive commemorative T-shirts, and all educators can be recognized during the game and enter prize drawings.
Tickets for the game range from $4.78 to $30 and can be purchased online at mercerbears.tixr.com. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN+ and via radio on Mercer Sports Network — 100.9 The Creek FM or sportsmic.com.
