The remains of Larry Martinez, an 81-year-old man who had been missing since 2022, were discovered near an overpass in Kent, Washington. According to a statement posted by the Kent Police Department on August 26, officers responded to the area on August 18 and located human remains.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the remains as belonging to Martinez. Police reported that Martinez, who showed signs of dementia, was last seen on June 8, 2022, after he walked away from a business.

His wife, Linda Martinez, spoke with KING 5 in 2022 about his disappearance. “I married him at 19 and he is the focus of my life,” she said. “We have been married for 60 years, we have had an amazing life, we’re very old.”

Authorities stated there is no indication that foul play was involved in his death. The police department noted: “While this is not the outcome any of us wanted, we are hopeful that locating Mr. Martinez’s remains will bring some closure to his family and friends.”

Kent is located approximately 20 miles south of Seattle.
