The remains of Maria Del Carmen Quintana, a woman who went missing in 2018, have been discovered near her home in Tillamook County, Oregon, according to the local sheriff’s office. Quintana was last seen in November 2018. After she was reported missing, family members and volunteers searched for the 59-year-old but were unable to find her.

In May 2025, partial remains were located in the woods close to Quintana’s residence. Search dogs were used during the investigation, and authorities later confirmed that the remains belonged to Quintana.

Law enforcement has not indicated whether foul play is suspected in her death.

“Our hearts are with Maria’s family as they receive this difficult news,” said Tillamook County Sheriff Joshua Brown. “We are grateful for the tireless efforts of our SAR volunteers, deputies, and community members who never stopped searching. While this may not bring the answers we had hoped for, we hope it provides some measure of closure.”

Tillamook County is situated about 70 miles west of Portland.
