Rescue teams in New Hampshire assisted two injured hikers on the Appalachian Trail after responding to an emergency call near the summit of North Kinsman. The incident occurred on August 25, when the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department was alerted that a hiker had slipped and fallen.

According to officials, the man from North Carolina was hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine when he fell. Conservation officers located him around 4 p.m. He was unable to walk, prompting volunteers to help carry him out. After receiving treatment at the scene, he was transported down the trail and taken by ambulance to a hospital.

During this rescue operation, officials encountered another hiker on the Appalachian Trail who also had serious injuries. This individual received assistance and was similarly taken down the trail for hospital care.

“New Hampshire Fish and Game urges hikers to be prepared and to use caution while hiking. Packing the 10 Essentials, even on a day hike, is imperative,” officials said.
