An employee of Ryland Environmental died Saturday morning after being struck by a company garbage truck, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to an incident at the intersection of Ridge and Hartley avenues shortly before 10:15 a.m. The sheriff’s office stated in a news release, “It was reported that the motorist of a 2022 Mack Terrapro was reversing in the vehicle. While reversing, a forty-five-year-old male pedestrian behind the vehicle was struck.”

The victim, identified as Chad Williams, was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries. Coroner Leon Jones confirmed to The Telegraph that Williams was employed by Ryland Environmental and that the involved truck belonged to the company. Authorities have notified Williams’ family.

The sheriff’s office said, “The accident is currently being investigated. At this time, no charges have been made. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.”
