Ryland Environmental has issued a statement following the death of an employee, Chad Williams, who was killed in an accident involving a garbage truck on January 3. According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Williams, age 45, was struck by a reversing trash truck and later died at the hospital.

John Nail, general manager of Ryland Environmental, said in a statement that Williams’ death “strikes deeply for every person, and we are coming together to make sure each person is taken care of at this time.” On Monday morning, company employees gathered to honor Williams. Nail added that they “began work with heavy hearts but determination.”

Nail also commented on the company’s commitment to its services: “They take pride in serving this community,” he said. “As a result, we don’t expect major impacts to scheduled pickup.”

He expressed gratitude toward emergency crews for their response on January 3 and thanked “the people of Macon-Bibb for their continued prayers for Chad’s family and co-workers.”

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities ask anyone with information about the accident to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
