A black hound puppy named Wren, who has spent over 125 days in a South Carolina animal shelter, recently had the opportunity to enjoy life outside the shelter for a day. Wren’s experience was shared widely on TikTok as she took part in activities that many dogs encounter regularly.

“Wren has spent most of her life in the shelter. She doesn’t know what it feels like to curl up on a couch, stroll down the street on a walk, or ride in the car for a pup cup with her person. But on our day out, she finally got to experience those simple joys, and she loved every second,” @aguyandagolden said in an Aug. 23 TikTok post.

The post also described Wren’s personality and her readiness for adoption: “Wren is sweet, gentle, and was wonderful with kids and everyone we met on our day out. She’s been waiting over 120 days for her chance at a forever family. Let’s make today the last day she spends in the shelter.”

Footage from the outing shows Wren exploring new sights, riding in a cart, receiving toys, and enjoying affection from people throughout her excursion.

The Greenville Humane Society continues to care for Wren but expressed confusion about why she remains unadopted. “She’s a hound through and through: nose to the ground, ears in the wind, heart full of joy. Whether she’s doing zoomies in the yard or flopping over for belly rubs, Wren brings the goofy energy only a hound dog can!” read an Aug. 20 Facebook post from the shelter.

According to information provided by the organization in response to comments online, Wren is currently not listed on its website because she is staying with a foster family.
