A Smyrna resident was arrested Thursday after leading Marietta police on a chase that resulted in a kidnapping charge. Officers attempted to stop a grey Kia driven by 33-year-old Terron Lee near 621 South Marietta Parkway around 3:40 p.m. after receiving reports of suspicious activity.

According to the Marietta Police Department, officers instructed Lee to allow his passenger to leave the vehicle. Instead, Lee evaded police and stalled the car. The passenger attempted to escape but fell out as the vehicle started moving again.

Lee is now facing a felony kidnapping charge related to the incident. Authorities said medical personnel were called to assess the passenger, but no injuries were reported.

During the pursuit, Lee drove near two Marietta schools, prompting temporary lockouts at those locations.

Lee was apprehended at 3:48 p.m. He faces six misdemeanor charges including driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, stop sign violation, willful obstruction of law enforcement, loitering or prowling, and fleeing or attempting to elude officers. The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he remains in custody at Cobb County Jail without bond.

“Lee is charged with kidnapping the passenger. Authorities said medical personnel were called to the scene to check on the passenger. No injuries were reported.”

He also faces one felony count of kidnapping following Thursday’s events.
