Strand Theatre schedules movie screenings and live performances for October

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta will host a series of events throughout October. The lineup includes movie screenings, concerts, and special performances.

Among the featured films in the Spooky Movies at The Strand series are “Get Out” (2017) on October 9, “Young Frankenstein” (1974) on October 10, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993) with a sensory-friendly showing at 2 p.m. and another at 7 p.m. on October 15, and “Scream” (1996) on October 16. Some movies have age restrictions; for example, those under 17 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian for R-rated films.

Other events include Jazz Talk with Trey Wright: A Journey Through Jazz History Part II at 7:30 p.m. on both October 16 and November 6, and An Evening With Shawn Mullins and His Band at 8 p.m. on October 17. The GPG: To The Limit – The Ultimate Eagles Experience will perform “Hotel California” at 8 p.m. on October 18.

Additional programming features Strand Ole Opry: O Brother Where Art Thou at 4 p.m. on October 19, Strand Academy Presents: Strandemonium at 6:30 p.m. on October 20, Crazy Train – Ozzy Osbourne Tribute at 8 p.m. on October 24, and several more spooky film screenings leading up to Halloween.

A live pre-show concert will be performed on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ thirty minutes before each Spooky Movies screening.
