A 24-year-old man who was supposed to be on house arrest in Kathleen has been charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend’s six-month-old baby in Macon, according to police and court records.
Willie George Northern Jr. was reportedly caring for Myles Walker while the child’s mother was at work, according to an incident report from Bibb County deputies. The two were at Walker’s home on Fairmont Avenue Sunday night.
According to the incident report and a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Northern told deputies he “fed, swaddled, then laid the infant to rest” on an air mattress placed on top of a blanket before taking a shower. When he returned, “he observed Myles laying face down in the bedding” and called 911 after noticing that the boy “was having difficulty breathing” around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The baby died Tuesday.
Deputies contacted Walker’s mother while she was at work in Macon and took her to the hospital where her son was being treated.
Northern was arrested Monday and initially charged with first-degree cruelty to children and tampering with evidence. After Walker died from severe injuries at a hospital on Tuesday, Northern faced an additional charge of murder, according to both a sheriff’s office news release and jail records.
Authorities classified the circumstances as domestic violence. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones told The Telegraph he did not know if Walker had visible injuries; an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is scheduled for Friday morning.
The incident report noted that this was not Northern’s first time watching Myles since he began dating his girlfriend in 2025.
While Walker lived at the Macon residence where the incident occurred, court records show Northern lived on Dowdy Lane in Kathleen under a previous order for home confinement.
Court documents indicate that Northern had earlier been indicted on charges including robbery and possession of a firearm or knife during certain felonies in Houston County Superior Court. He pleaded not guilty to those charges on February 4, 2025. He had been booked into Houston County Jail on November 2, 2024 but later released under bond conditions set by Superior Court Judge Edward D. Lukemire.
Judge Lukemire granted him $50,000 bond on January 7, 2025 with stipulations including “electronic monitoring with no exception (and) no contact, direct or indirect, with alleged victim or with the co-defendant,” as stated in a court order. The prior alleged robbery case did not involve Walker or his mother.
