A 14-year-old student was arrested after allegedly threatening to attack Nevis Public School in northern Minnesota. According to Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes, authorities were notified by the school on September 11, shortly after 3 p.m., that a student had threatened to bring a gun onto campus.
Sheriff’s deputies met with school administrators at Nevis School, which enrolls students from preschool through 12th grade. Investigators learned that the boy told other students he intended to “shoot up the school, shoot a particular student, and then shoot himself.” School staff and law enforcement interviewed students to confirm the nature of the threats.
Deputies later met with the teen and his father at their home in Nevis. The sheriff’s office reported that the boy admitted making the threats. He was arrested for making terroristic threats and taken to the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center in Bemidji.
