The Effective Syndicate (TES), a consulting firm focused on operational execution for manufacturing and industrial businesses, has named Gerry O’Hanlon as its new Director of Coaching.

O’Hanlon has over 35 years of leadership experience in packaging and industrial manufacturing. Throughout his career, he has led facility turnarounds, increased productivity, and improved cost control and profitability. In this role, he will oversee TES’s coaching platform and work with private equity sponsors and company leaders to speed up value creation projects. His responsibilities include strengthening operating discipline, reducing performance variability, and implementing systems to improve EBITDA in a sustainable way.

His focus areas include aligning executive teams with measurable value targets, deploying the GSD System to help organizations “Get Stuff Done,” standardizing operations across multiple manufacturing sites, and developing leadership teams that can maintain results after TES’s engagement ends.

Beau Groover, Founder of The Effective Syndicate, said: “Private equity-backed manufacturers operate under compressed timelines and elevated performance expectations. Gerry understands how to build execution discipline inside those environments. He doesn’t implement short-term fixes — he installs operating systems that produce durable financial results.”

O’Hanlon is recognized for helping underperforming facilities regain operational control by improving labor productivity and strengthening frontline leadership accountability. His approach combines Lean and Six Sigma practices with leadership development programs aimed at lasting margin improvement.

“Manufacturing value creation requires more than strategy — it requires disciplined execution at every level of the organization,” said O’Hanlon. “TES is uniquely positioned to help portfolio companies close execution gaps, improve operational reliability, and accelerate performance gains within defined investment horizons.”

TES says this appointment reflects its commitment to helping private equity sponsors and manufacturing operators implement scalable systems that achieve measurable improvements in operations and finances.

Founded in 2015, The Effective Syndicate works with private equity firms and manufacturing leaders to enhance execution performance and drive financial results. According to the company’s background information, TES reports an average return on investment of 5:1 for clients, with more than three-quarters continuing their engagements beyond the initial scope. The firm uses its GSD framework—Clarity, Teamwork, Discipline, Energy—to support sustainable value creation efforts.
