Packages of raw chicken thawed improperly and concerns about the storage of raw hamburger led to two Warner Robins restaurants receiving āCā grades during their routine health inspections in December, according to state reports.
Saigon Bowl, located at 810 Ga. 96, Suite 600, was cited for thawing two packages of raw chicken on a bucket in the main kitchen during its Dec. 1 inspection. The restaurant received a score of 72, classified as āmarginal compliance.ā A follow-up inspection resulted in an improved score of 84, raising its grade to a āB.ā
The Garden Grill & Bar at the Hilton Garden Inn, 207 North Willie Lee Parkway, received a score of 74 during its Dec. 30 inspection. Inspectors noted that raw hamburger was stored next to alfredo sauce on the same tray and above raw bacon inside the walk-in cooler. Food safety regulations require food to be protected from possible cross contamination.
State Environmental Health inspectors use a grading system where scores below 70 are considered failing and receive a āUā grade. Restaurants scoring either a āCā or āUā must undergo follow-up inspections within ten days.
Saigon Bowl had previously earned perfect scores of 100 at its July and May inspections earlier in the year.
The Garden Grill & Bar also had a history of high marks, with scores including 92 in July, 95 in February, and mostly āAāsā throughout previous routine inspections. It received an āAā after a follow-up inspection last March following an earlier low score.
Most eating establishments across Houston County received āAāsā on their routine inspections from Dec. 1-31, while fewer than twelve establishments were given āBās.ā No other restaurants received grades as low as āCā or failing marks during this period.
Restaurant inspections are conducted to protect public health. The Telegraph reviews these inspection reports each month.
