A woman used a discreet hand signal to seek help while at a 7-Eleven in Alhambra, California, according to the Alhambra Police Department. A witness recognized the signal, which was made behind her back while she was accompanied by a man, and called 911.

Police responded to the scene after receiving the call. According to authorities, there had been an incident of domestic violence. Officers instructed both individuals to step outside for questioning.

During the interaction, police asked the man to stand up for a pat down. He fled on foot but was later apprehended. The man, identified as being from Glendora, had an outstanding warrant and was found carrying a stun gun.

Alhambra is located about 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

“Police said there had been a domestic violence incident, and the person recognized the hand signal the woman was doing behind her back.”
