Woman dies after house fire on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon

A house fire on the 3000 block of Pio Nono Avenue in Macon claimed the life of a 63-year-old woman Monday evening, according to Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. The victim, Linda Sanford, was pronounced dead about an hour after the fire began, following her transport to a hospital.

The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department reported that the blaze was largely limited to a single bedroom. The department is investigating the incident as an accident. No other individuals were present in the home at the time of the fire, and firefighters managed to bring it under control quickly.

The bedroom where the fire started suffered most of the damage, while other parts of the house experienced smoke and water damage.
